Gel-Sol: "Numby Numbs"

So, I made this video for school. The class was Edit 3 (Beginning Avid), and the format for the final project was pretty much open-ended. I chose to make a video for the Gel-Sol track, "Numby Numbs" from his (unfortunately currently out-of-print) first album, Gel-Sol 1104 (aka Music Made for You...and by You, I Mean Me).

The footage is not original; it came from three films: Baraka (1992), Chronos (1985), and Koyaanisqatsi (1982). These movies all feature the brilliant cinematography of Ron Fricke (who also directed Baraka and Chronos).

Gel-Sol and I thought you might enjoy it, so, enjoy:

Depending on your YouTube defaults/preferences, if you click on the video (not the play button) and follow the link to the video's page, you may be able to click on a link that says "Watch in high quality" for a better image if you have a fast connection. This will make a huge difference if the image is chunky. You can also download a higher-quality version of the video (H.264 .mp4, 93 MB, ~2816 kbps video bitrate, 192 kbps audio bitrate).

I got a sweet new Motorola RAZR V3. I was using it as a timepiece on a train ride in January. I checked the time just before getting off of the train. Then I walked through the rain to the car, where I checked the time again, only this time, the phone looked like this:

Awesome, huh? This apparently counts as "user abuse" even though I didn't do anything to it, so warranty doesn't cover it. What a bunch of crap.

I also have this sweet new digital camera; see how spiffy those pictures are? Keep an eye on my Flickr page--I've got some beautiful Central Coast sunset shots to throw up there soon enough. Anyways, the point is, I must be a magnet for defective electronics, because it turns out the camera needs to go back to Canon. You can't tell on those pictures of the phone, but there's a smudge or something on the sensor (behind the lens). It shows up more or less depending on zoom level and/or aperture size. When you see the sunset shots I wanna throw up, you'll see it right away in the corner.

I just don't want to send the camera away. I love it too much. It's 12 fucking megapixels. Shit is gorgeous. 'Cept for that fucking mark in the corner of my sunsets.

This semester is going to kick my ass. I know I say that every semester, but I'm really scared this time. Cine 1 (that's short for Cinematography), Edit 3 (Avid), Astronomy (I will actually learn how to navigate via the stars and stuff), and a "Sci-Fi/Fantasy" class, which better be as easy as it sounds (but I'm not going to hold my breath, since there are three books required for the class).

If I haven't responded to an e-mail of yours yet, be patient. I'll get to it. Maybe. If you don't hear back in a week or so, you may want to resend it. I pretty much ignored cyberspace for the past month or so, so there's a bunch of crap piled up in my inbox.

I just kind of started to clean out my e-mail inbox and I found a number of unread e-mails from friends of mine from over a year ago. What the fuck was going on with me a year ago? I don't even remember noticing any of those e-mails in my inbox at all.

Anyways, this is my official apology for ignoring you. Get over it, though. I suck at that sort of thing. Plus, most of you should have a little present in your inbox.

Shit's too complicated now. I got Xanga text, photos, videos, audio, tags, user tags, profile pic, currently watching/listening/reading, privacy, feedback, ratings, blogrings, FUCK. Stop asking me so many questions already. Let me type some words before I forget what the hell I was thinking about.

And there it goes. Inspiration gone. I was gonna say something about winter; the handy blog title is telling me that. It's cold. I don't want to go to the lab. I think that was it--I was just going to whine about that. It would've been really interesting, I swear.

My cell phone broke in half, and due to compatibility issues with my old phone vs. my SIM card, I was only able to retrieve up to a certain number of names from the phone (A-R), so there's a possibility that I don't have your number anymore, depending on where you were in my phonebook. Maybe once I own a phone with a camera in it, this blog and/or my Flickr page will take off. I wouldn't count on it, though.

I still have way better taste in music than all of you. Just kidding. But not really.
